The Quesnel Community Foundation is pleased to support the Quesnel Quilters Guild with a $3,000 grant to enhance its Comfort Quilt program, which provides handmade quilts to individuals in the community experiencing medical challenges or emotional trauma.

Through this funding, the Guild was able to purchase flannel backing, fabric, and batting supplies enabling members to produce more than 120 quilts.  This support has helped increase the number of quilts available to those in need.

"Our guild is one of giving, and it has been our mandate to give back to the community through our Comfort Quilt program, which is in part thanks to the generous grant received from the Foundation."

These quilts are distributed throughout the community, primarily through RCMP Victim Services, and extend to a number of local agencies including Dunrovin Park Lodge, Hospice and Palliative Care, and GR Baker Memorial Hospital.  Quilts are provided to individuals ranging from newborns to youth up to age 16, offering comfort during times of illness, recovery, or emotional hardship.

The Guild has also taken steps to recognize the Foundation contribution by including acknowledgement labels on each quilt made with grant-funded materials.  In May 2025, the Guild highlighted the Foundation's support at a quilt show held at the local art gallery and the Art Council Art Trail.

This project reflects the meaningful impact of community-based giving, helping ensure that vulnerable individuals receive not only practical support, but also a sense of care and connection.
