Quesnel Community Foundation awards $30000 in grants for COVID Relief from the “In Our Hearts” Community Response Fund

 Ten community organizations working in a wide variety of areas received funding for COVID 19 relief

 

With $30000 to give out, The Quesnel Community Foundation received over $78000 in applications for the “In Our Hearts Community Response Fund” from the Vancouver Foundation and had to make the difficult decisions as to who received funds and for how much.

Applications came from a variety of different organizations from sports facilities, clubs, and community organizations. “We are very happy to have received the funds from the Vancouver Community Foundation, and we are very pleased that we could support the people of Quesnel in this very difficult time” said Adrian Monych grant committee chair.

This year’s list of grant recipients represents a wide variety of organizations, all have whom suffered because of the Pandemic touching many different aspects of the community, working with everyone from youth to seniors.

The QCF’s grants committee got together over a period of two days to go over these one-time grant applications and made some difficult decisions. “All the organizations that applied are valuable members of our community and support so many, our hope is that these funds can make a big impact for those community minded organizations”

The “In Our Hearts” Community Response Fund from the Vancouver Community Foundation awarded by the Quesnel Community Foundation grant recipients are:

·         Quesnel Crafters Society- for COVID sanitation supplies, and creating safe opportunities for crafters, customers, and guests.

·         Quesnel Technics Gymnastics Club - for COVID sanitation supplies and equipment so they can continue to support aspiring gymnasts

·         Quesnel Team Roping Club- for sanitation supplies and loss of income

·         Quesnel Lions Club- to support their food for senior’s program and health care requests

·         Quesnel and District Seniors’ Centre Society - to support loss of income due to COVID 19 and to provide sanitation supplies safety equipment for volunteers and guests

·         Dunrovin Park Lodge to purchase supplies for their dementia activities kit

·         Kersley Community Foundation- to support their ongoing programs and events in the wake of COVID 19

·         Legion- to support loss of income and to provide safety equipment for volunteers and guests

·         Quesnel Curling Centre- to support loss of income and to provide safety equipment for volunteers

·         Quesnel Billy Barker Days Society -to help put safety measures in place and to pay for insurance losses due to COVID19.

“I am very pleased our Quesnel Community Foundation was able to partner with the Vancouver Foundation to support many Community Groups who have been impacted by the COVID 19 epidemic .Thank you to all groups who applied and to the Quesnel Community Foundation Directors for volunteering their time in reviewing the many applications. The Foundation works for the entire Community and Region and I am proud to serve as the current President”, says Mary Sjostrom Quesnel Community Foundation President.
