BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Alex Coffey - President
Alex is a retired lawyer who practiced for 34 years. Alex was involved in the Rotary Club of Quesnel for over 30 years, and was its President in 1984-85. He was Assistant Governor of Rotary District 5040 (Cariboo) for 3 years. He also served as President of the Quesnel Curling Club, the BC Interior Curling Association, and Friends of Barkerville. He is an honorary life member of Curl BC, and has a BA in Economics and an LLB. He is married and has two children.

Kevin McKelvie 
Kevin was born and raised in Quesnel and has been an agent for 27 years with Sun Life Financial (formerly Clarica), and holds his Chartered Financial Planner, Chartered Life Underwriter, and Certified Financial Planner designations. Kevin was a member of the Canada Pension Plan Advisory Board for 5 years.

He has been involved with many voluntary and industry organizations. He is married and has three children.


Doug Service, Vice President, is a retired teacher and administrator who served for 34 years in Quesnel. He has a Masters in Education from the University of Victoria. He currently works for the University of British Columbia.

Doug is a Director of the Quesnel Seniors Center and is married with two children and two fabulous grandchildren.


Lorna Townsend, Treasurer
Lorna is a historian who was Chair of the Quesnel and District Museum & Heritage Commission and has been involved with the West Fraser Timber Park Advisory Committee, the University of Northern British Columbia’s Senate Committee on Regional Policy and Inter-Institutional Relations.

She has held numerous positions with the Quesnel Festival of Performing Arts and other organizations. She has six children and ten grandchildren.


Shirley Keen, Secretary, is a Certified General Accountant who moved to Quesnel in 1980. She worked for Rigsby Lea Barr and the City of Quesnel prior to becoming self-employed in 1990. She has three children and is originally from Vancouver.

Roy Josephy was born and raised in Quesnel and received a diploma in landscape horticulture in 1982. He is a co-owner and manager of Richbar Nursery/Golf and a partner in Icon Homes.

Roy has worked with Quesnel Youth soccer and is a past President of the Quesnel Construction Association and Past Chair of the Northern BC Construction Association. He has three children aged 15-19 and is again saving for university.


Sheri Coles is the Branch Manager for Integris Credit Union. She has been employed with Credit Unions in various parts of the province for just over 30 years.

She is the treasurer for the Quesnel Women's Fall Challenge and has been an active volunteer in Quesnel since she arrived. She moved to Quesnel in 2005 with her husband, and both sons soon followed.


Dan Canuel moved to Quesnel in 1971 where he co-owned and managed Quesnel Tire. In 2004, he and his partner sold their business to Kal Tire Corporation, and Dan retired in 2009.  Dan is married with five children, and is a very busy grandfather to nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

He has served many local organizations like Minor Football, the Quesnel Community and Economic Development Corporation, and the Quesnel Fire Department. Dan is also a very active member with St. Ann’s Parish, its Catholic School, and the Knights of Columbus.  He is looking forward to new challenges with the Quesnel Community Foundation.


Bob Lebeck is a Quesnel native and grad of Cariboo High School, and worked for West Fraser Mills for 34 years. He worked in the sawmill, moved into purchasing and local sales, and also managed the finger joint plant. He finished his career with the company in lumber sales.  

Now in retirement, he is enjoying his new role as a Foundation Board member: “I’ve always supported my community, and this is another way for me to give back.” 

Bob is a recreational boater and a musician, and with his wife, Lora, he circled the world. He volunteers with the Quesnel Power Squadron and is Chair of the Quesnel Museum and Heritage Commission. Bob and Lora’s two children also live in Quesnel.
