Bob Lebeck - President
Bob is a Quesnel native who worked for West Fraser Mills for 34 years. He worked in the sawmill, moved to purchasing and local sales and also managed the finger-joint plant. He finished his career in lumber sales.
Now retired, Bob is enjoying his role as a Foundation Board member. "I've always supported my community and this is another way for me to give back." Bob is a recreational boater, and a musician, and with his wife, Lora, has circled the world. He is a volunteer with Quesnel Power Squadron.
Bob and Lora's two children also live in Quesnel.
Heather Wuensche - Vice President
Heather is a Human Resource Manager at West Fraser Mills. She transferred to Quesnel when West Fraser’s mill in Kitimat closed.
Over the years Hather hasd been involved in numerous youth sports organizations, including hockey, fastball and swim club. She has served as a Swim B.C. Regional Representative and an executive member of the winter club in Kitimat, as well as team manager for several hockey and fastball teams. Her hobbies include running, reading and snowshoeing.
Heather is married, and has three children and three grandchildren.
Tom Weckworth - Treasurer
Tom Weckworth is a designated CPA-CGA accountant employed with West Fraser Mills Ltd. in the capacity of Panels and Specialty Products Controller at their corporate office located in Quesnel. He obtained his designation from the CGA Association of BC in 1996.
In his 22 years at West Fraser, Tom has been responsible for successive roles in operations and corporate functions. As Panels Controller he is responsible for the financial activities of nine manufacturing facilities in British Columbia and Alberta.
Upon moving to Quesnel in 1997 he has been an active member in various community related volunteer activities and boards which included the Quesnel Sustainability Committee, Lightning Creek Ski Club, and Rotary. Tom enjoys many outdoor activities in and around Quesnel such as trail running, fishing, downhill and cross country skiing. He is an active bridge player with the Quesnel Duplicate Bridge Club and has run several marathons in the past few years.
Tom and his wife, Patricia, have raised 2 children, Samantha and Gillian, in Quesnel and were active in their numerous extracurricular activities such as soccer, alpine skiing, track and field, piano and dance. He is looking forward to sitting on the board of the Quesnel Community Foundation.
Margot Gagne - Secretary
Margot moved to Quesnel in 1996 with her husband Roger. Together, they have raised three children, one of whom recently moved back to Quesnel to start her career. She currently works for Quesnel River Pulp as the Environmental Coordinator. Prior to that she was employed as a staff accountant at Chan Foucher Lefebvre (now KPMG.)
Margot enjoys biking, hiking and running, and spending time with family and friends. Margot has been an active volunteer in Quesnel as team manager and treasurer for various youth sports; Leader and District Commissioner with the Girl Guides of Canada; President for the Quesnel Technics Gymnastic Club; and Member of the New Facility Committee of Quesnel Youth Soccer Association which successfully raised the funds for and oports Facility in West Quesnel.
Margot has been on the receiving end of the good work that the Quesnel Community Foundation does and is excited to become involved with the Foundation.
Brian Black - Director
Brian is a graduate of UBC, a Professional Engineer and a First Class Power Engineer. He moved to Quesnel in 1974 to take a job at Cariboo Pulp later changing to Quesnel River Pulp. He had several different positions and was mill manager at QRP for several years before retiring
Like many others in the community, Brian and his wife Evi did not plan to stay but have become a part of the community and have raised their family, two sons, in Quesnel. Brian enjoys outdoor activities and self powered sports. His particular passion is cross country skiing. He helped found the Cariboo Ski Touring Club back in 1975 and has had a key role in the development of the Hallis Lake public recreation facility. He is currently the president of the CSTC. He was also a board member and past chairman of the Quesnel and Community Economic Development Corporation.
Brian is happy to be involved with this very worthwhile organization and looks forward to giving his time, energy and experience to the Foundation.
Sheri Coles - Director
Sheri is the Branch Manager for Integris Credit Union. She has been employed with Credit Unions in various parts of the province for just over 30 years.
She is the treasurer for the Quesnel Women's Fall Challenge and has been an active volunteer in Quesnel since she arrived. She moved to Quesnel in 2005 with her husband, and both sons soon followed.
Dan Canuel - Director
Dan moved to Quesnel in 1971 where he co-owned and managed Quesnel Tire. In 2004, he and his partner sold their business to Kal Tire Corporation, and Dan retired in 2009. Dan is married with five children, and is a very busy grandfather to nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Dan has served many local organizations like Minor Football, the Quesnel Community and Economic Development Corporation, and the Quesnel Fire Department. He is also a very active member with St. Ann’s Parish, its Catholic School, and the Knights of Columbus.
Lisa Battram - Director
Lisa has fond memories of growing up in Quesnel. After leaving in 1993 to travel and complete her B.Comm at the University of Victoria, she returned to the community in 2000 and began her career with West Fraser where she is currently in Lumber Sales.
Lisa enjoys music, sports, travel and the outdoors, and has coached various sports over the years, most recently for the Quesnel Youth Soccer Association. She has also helped with numerous fundraising efforts, including work as an active member of the Gala and Grants committees for the Foundation.
Lisa is grateful for the opportunity to serve on the Quesnel Community Foundation Board and is proud to give back to the town of her roots.
Bruce Broughton - Director
Bruce was born in Quesnel and is the fourth generation of his family to live in the area. He has been co-owner of Willis Harper Hardware & Furniture for the past 17 years, and has served as president of the Downtown Business Association for 12 years.
Bruce was the vice-chair of the Quesnel Economic Development Corporation for two years, and treasurer of the Quesnel Goldpanners hockey team for 15 years.
Married with two sons and has two grandchildren., Bruce is proud of our community and, besides hockey, enjoys hiking local areas. Bruce looks forward to working with the other directors on the Foundation Board.
